The American economy is in stagnation, but you do not see that if you look at the video game industry. It has been estimated that sales of video game hardware grew around 20% from last year. This shows that sales of video games are not really dependent on other economic indicators. I believe that this is because games provide entertainment, and entertainment is one of the basic needs people have. For example, going to Disneyland for a few days and spending a few hundred dollars might sound fun to many people, but it is not as effective as spending a few hundred dollars on video games. That is because you could play video games for the whole year. I also believe that video games are slowly replacing TV shows, and that is a good thing in my opinion. Games require a lot more interaction and concentration compared to TV shows, which means that our brains are much more active when we play games. Games are going to continue to gain popularity, simply because they are quite inexpensive compared to other forms on entertainment. Games are also more and more entertaining each years, due to the progress in technology.

Within the last few years, there were a lot of computer games released that were based on movies. Titles like Lord of the Rings Online or Star Wars Galaxies are an example of that. Developers know that monetizing the popularity of specific movies can be a great idea and it often works. That is because even if the game would not get rated very well, there will still be fans who will want to play it as playing a game offers a new dimension compared to watching movies. It is also interesting that there are some movies based on games. An example of that would be Resident Evil, which was a very popular game, and eventually arrived on the big screen. There is also a Warcraft movie in production, which is going to be based on the Warcraft universe. Another popular movie was Mortal Kombat, which was based on the popular fighting game. Nonetheless, there are still a lot more games being released that are based on movies, rather than movies based on games. This might be due to the fact that games are more versatile so it is easier to make a game based on a movie. Games based on movies can be strategies, fighting games, or role-playing games.

Ragdoll Masters, on the other hand, revolves around fighting against ragdoll characters. What those two games have in common is that they are quite simple, but they have a large player base. Those players who enjoy such games appreciate the core design elements of these game and do not need extras such as long cutscenes, a lot of spoken dialogue, or amazing graphics. They believe that what is important is to have a good idea for a game and that often simplicity is the key.
