If you ever get asked by email to contact a financial institution such as PayPal, then contact them the way you always do. Do not directly reply to an email, but rather visit their website that you know you can trust and fill out a contact form. Realizing the dangers of the Internet will make you less vulnerable to scammers. It will also ensure that you will be able to recognize various cons that scammers will want to trick you with.
