Military Manuals

There is power in cultivating good relationships. Good relationships boost productivity in the workplace and improve family dynamics. Clearly, it’s beneficial to make getting along well with each other a high priority. Sometimes, keeping and maintaining good relationships can seem impossible, but three simple tips can work wonders when it comes to developing and improving any and every relationship we choose to actively engage in.

1. Communication
Keeping our thoughts and emotions to ourselves may seem like a good idea, but all it does is put a football field of distance between 2 people. Developing enough courage and self-control to express yourself respectfully takes practice. But if we can gain some control and mastery over the way we react to others our relationships can soar.

2. Respect
It may seem strange to consider respect as a valuable component of a good relationship, but it is. When there is respect in a relationship, regardless of how angry or disappointed two people are with each other, certain limits are never crossed. When two people understand that respect is valuable in any relationship, they understand the devastation that a relationship devoid of respect can undergo. When there is no respect between two people there are no limits to what either person will say or do in the heat of the moment. This makes creating a stable long-lasting relationship next to impossible.

3. Time
All relationships require time to grow and develop. The time we spend interacting with each other sends an unspoken message. Time spent with one another is another way of saying, you are important to me. There is absolutely no substitute for spending time with anyone you are trying to cultivate and improve a relationship with. If you have a husband or wife that serves in the military and some of their time must be spent pouring over military field manuals, work around the demands of their service obligation. Time equals value. You shouldn’t let busy schedules get in the way of spending quality time with each other.

If your desire is to maintain, start, or resurrect any relationship, communication, respect, and time can work like magic charms to get the process going. If these three principals are practiced consistently you will witness many amazing things blooming in your relationship garden; Flowers that were mere buds will blossom, seeds that were dormant will actually break ground, and flowers that lay withering, almost dead, will slowly rise to their former glory. Take a chance and invest more communication, respect, and time into any relationship you want to see flourish.
