Essentials for a Winter Break

With the rigours of Christmas and the puritanical regime of January out of the way, the time as never been better for a winter break. Whether you disappear in search of some sun at the darkest time of the year, or lean into the weather with some skiing while the snow is thick, getting away in February is a fantastic way to restore yourself, and get ready for the spring.

Today we’re looking at a few of the essentials you’ll need to pack to get the most out of any winter break, and avoid disaster on the way!

Grooming

In the event of delays, you’re going to want to be able to refresh yourself wherever you are. Making sure you have everything you need in your hand luggage some canny packing: if your Travel Shaving Set includes a safety razor or a straight razor, it’ll have to go into the hold, rather than your carry on bags, so you’ll need a cabin safe back up!

If you’re carrying a carefully stocked toiletries bag with you, you’ll be able to look freshly groomed whatever happens, which will improve your mood exactly when you need it the most.

Clothes

While you’ll spend a long time picking out clothes for every day and night of your holiday, you may neglect to think about what you’re going to do when you get home – if you’re traveling in search of some out season sunshine, you could find yourself suffering a shock to the system when you get home! Walking out of the airport in your Bermuda shorts into a February morning in the UK could undo all the rest and relaxation you got on your holiday!

Packing some clothes more appropriate to your location to change into quickly when you arrive will help you enjoy a smooth transition from your holiday back into real life.

Vital Documents

Wherever you’re going you’ll likely need some travel documents. Whether that’s simply a train ticket, or includes tickets for onward travel, passport and visas, losing any one of them could wreck your holiday!

Packing them in a secure pocket in your bag or coat is vital of course, but it’s also worth ensuring you have pictures or scans of every vital document emailed to your account so you have backups you can access in the even of disaster. While a picture of your passport is unlikely to be able help you through passport control on its own, it’s still a useful proof of identity to have if you find everything else is lost and you need help!
